Lingaraj Temple represents a temple by the Hindoo idol Harihara and is one of the oldest temples of the Temple City Bhubaneswar, a sacred pilgrimage heart and the capital of the state of Orissa.
The temple of Lingaraja, the greatest from altogether at Bhubaneswar is situated inside a large complex wall from latterite measuring 520 feet by 465 feet. The wall constitutes 7 feet 6 inches thick and got over by a plain slant coping. Alongside the inner face of the boundary wall there runs a terrace likely meant to protect the compound fence versus exterior aggression.
